After a recent reinstall of Windows 10 on my laptop, I suddently discovered that Photoshop would no longer load – it crashed at the point of “initializing html surfaces”, presenting no error – just disappearing.
Initially I assumed the problem was with Photoshop because I had updated to the latest version but I then noticed it worked fine on my laptop directly and only crashed when I was plugged in to my [easyazon_link keywords=”Dell D6000 docking station” locale=”US” tag=”bobmckay-20″]Dell D6000 docking station[/easyazon_link]. I tried updating the firmware of the docking station, the drivers, rolled back to the previous Photoshop version – no luck.
The solution
I then start iterating through different display adapter driver versions and DisplayLink versions, in the end I discovered that using an older version of the Intel display driver solved the problem for me, I had to go back all the way to version 27.20.100.9316, available for download from here:
