Photoshop: Your graphics processor is incompatible

Today I upgraded to Photoshop 2022 (specifically version 23.0.0 20211013.r.36 623993d x64) and when I launched it, was greeted with the fairly unhelpful message “Your graphics processor is incompatible”:

It turns out that the most recent up date to Photoshop has introduced a bug for laptop users that are running docking station/port replicator.

Despite the fact that Photoshop is clearly detecting the correct graphics card on my device (in my case an NVidia GeForce MX250), its testing seems to be disrupted by the presence of the docking station, with it providing two alerts:

Driver update recommended

OpenGL unavailable

I can confirm its the docking station because launching Photoshop without it connected has no issues.

Workaround

You can workaround this issue by setting the screen of your laptop as your main display in the Windows settings:

Right click your desktop

Click Display settings

Select your laptop screen in the screens layout box:

Scroll down to the section Multiple displays

Check the box that says Make this my main display

Select Keep changes when prompted

Hopefully Adobe will fix this soon as I don’t use my laptop display at all when docked
